The traits in the first bracket is what she attempts to act like. She usually acts like this when she's with people that aren't her family. The traits in the second bracket are what she really acts like, and these traits usually shine through. Although she always tries to act cold and harsh towards people, she has a tendency to slip up and be nice to them anyway. She tries her very best to cover up, though, even if her explanation for her actions are a bit ridiculous. ("Y-You were nice-" "It's because I have a cold.")
She can usually be found pretending to sleep in class (secretly copying notes), littering (picking it up and throwing it in the trash bin later, of course), and yelling at people angrily (she always sends an anonymous apology letter later on). In actuality, she's a very sweet girl who thinks for the betterment of everything and everyone around her. She cares to a fault, seeing that she has a tendency to worry a bit too much, and it gets her sick sometimes. She's a diligent student, who always does her homework and submits it on time. If she makes mistakes, she punishes herself (examples of which could be not entering her house) until she's forgiven herself, Even if whoever she's affected has already forgiven her. She also likes running errands and doing favors for people.
Her selling point is the fact that she looks a bit gothic/punk, and she acts like it. She doesn't act too different from the personality she tries to show others. In fact, she does it even better on stage. She moves around a lot, but she never attempts to do dance moves out of her comfort zone. If she feels as if she's sticking out too much, she has a tendency to move less and try to draw less attention to herself in general.
Miyako was never a punk from the start. In actuality, she only became a punk for her younger brothers. Back in elementary and for half of junior high, she had kept her hair short because she knew how messy and unruly it got, even if she tried combing it and keeping it neat. She’s tried so many things to keep it neat and orderly, such as different hair products, but applying them everyday grew bothersome for her. It was only halfway through her second year of junior high where she started growing her hair out, because she didn't have anymore time to get it cut.
It amused her brothers to see her hair like that, to the point that they often said to her in unison, “You look like a rebel or a punk!”. She knew that her little brothers loved seeing rebellious people, especially since Miyako was so straight laced herself. After all, they were two energetic little boys with a sister that was overly self-disciplined. After a few days of deliberation, she decided to start acting and looking like a rebel, so that her brothers would be happy. Her mother went out with her to buy red contact lenses and colored hair extensions.
She started changing her attitude to show how cool and rebellious she could be, even if she wasn’t cool nor rebellious in the slightest, even going as far as changing the way she acted in school. This wasn’t difficult for her in the slightest, especially since she’s loved acting since she was a little girl. She just hoped from the bottom of her heart that her brothers could see how unappealing being a rebel was. She hoped that they would realize that being a rebel wasn’t good, and that they would soon mature a bit.
She also hoped that this was all worth it, seeing that she chased away the guy she liked by changing her look and attitude like this. After all, she made the change over a weekend. Who wouldn’t be surprised if a typically sweet and nice girl suddenly started stomping around with red contacts and weird colored hair the next Monday? He didn’t want to deal with that at all.
That was the very thing that made her decide to go to an all-girls school. The only thing her mother and her ever disagreed on was sending her to this school. Her mother wanted her to go, because that’s where she went to school as a teenager. Miyako didn’t want to go because all-girls was a foreign and weird concept to her. She never saw the appeal of it until she had her heart broken. She had planned, after all, to go to the same school as the boy she liked. She figured she could move on by going to this school.
